Though well-intentioned, common misconceptions about safety and economic independence can be fatal for some.

The recent ruling in the Emily Sanche trial continues to highlight the necessity for agents of the law to better understand how to keep Women safe.

A few weeks prior to this ruling on July 3, 2025, I was home alone when a man trespassed on my residence. I was able to capture footage of him opening a gate, looking inside windows, and perusing around the enclosed exterior spaces of my residence.

As I hid in my bathroom, watching this man so casually trespass and intrude on my safety, it was no longer June 11, 2025 at 7:09pm, I’m 8 years old hiding in the bathroom during an attempted armed robbery. It’s 2023, with a camera installed inside my then-home after Breonna Taylor, only to capture two men entering without permission or notice.

I don’t want to have to die for agents of the law to believe me.
